Oak Island Event

The Southport Community Building overlooking the Cape Fear River was the setting for the Paths of Hope Launch for the Southport/Oak Island area on Thursday September 19th.  Many of the attendees were members of Oak Island Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Susan Smith’s home church, which supports POH through its missions giving.  Other friends and churches were represented from the Wilmington area.

OIEPC mission committee member Bonnie Pendergast welcomed guests and told how her Peru experiences captured her heart for this work that Paths of Hope is now doing with aging out orphans and marginalized children.  President Susan Smith spoke of her involvement in Peru since the year 2000, and how the Lord has led her to begin a ministry to this specific group of young people who have no hope apart from God and His people.

Board member Angela Howard shared the mission and vision of Paths of Hope and four pillars of our program, mentoring, life skills, education and counseling.

If you would like to host an event with your small group, church, missions committee, or neighbors, we would love to present the ministry of POH.
