POH Scholarship

We are excited to announce that this year we have launched our new POH Scholarship for young men and women who have grown up in children’s homes.

While there are other scholarship programs available in Peru, most opportunities are directed at 3–5-year degree programs. As we have been working to build intentional relationships with young adults who have spent time in alternative care, we have seen that these longer-term opportunities leave out a large segment of graduates from children’s homes who are looking for a more practical trade or skill. Many have a desire or a need to immediately begin working and earning a stable income.

In partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, we have awarded our first five scholarships aimed at bridging this gap. Each scholarship awarded supports a young adult as they work to complete a short-term learning opportunity (maximum 6 months). After an intentional step of vocational orientation and an opportunity to think through their choice of career, the current recipients have chosen to pursue diverse trades including beauty school, electricity, digital marketing, cashier skills, and cell phone repair.

Our vision is a world where every young person has fullness of life, is integrated in their community and assured that a loving God sees, hears and knows them. It is our honor to walk with each of the scholarship recipients as we continue on the path toward fulfilling that vision and as they pursue their life goals.
